OUR LITTLE ONES

march17 042  A Sunday morning in PJ’s and spent cuddling our puppies!

In these pictures, Tyler is 5, Brady is 3, Cali just turned 2, and Lucy is 3 months.  We have had Lucy for a month and a half.  She is busy as ever!

Today I am home alone; even without the dogs!  It is strangely quiet and even more strange that as I am walking around the house doing chores, there is not a child or a dog following me wherever I go.  I have about 2 more hours until the boys are back and about 4 more hours and we will be to my Mom’s and will again have the dogs with us!

Love them ALL so much!

IOWA ENERGY/CHICAGO BULLS AFFILIATE NIGHT!

I had gotten free tickets for us to go to the Iowa Energy Basketball game on March 16th.

It ended up being a really fun night!  We started the night with dinner at Buzzard Billies.  After dinner we walked up to the Arena and were excited for the basketball game.  We lucked out that night, as it was Chicago Bulls Affiliate night.  The Energy players were wearing Bulls jerseys that night and Benny the Bull was there as well.  Benny, along with the Iowa Energy mascot, were great entertainment for the boys!

We spent the first quarter in our ticket seats, and then for the second quarter headed down closer to the court.  We left after half-time, as the boys were getting tired and not interested in the game anymore.

Turns out the Iowa Energy pulled away with a win that night!

FUN NIGHT!

march17 001

A couple weeks ago we had a fun Friday Night with the kids playing Disney Headbanz and the adults playing some cards!

SLEDDING TIME!

Tyler and I had a great afternoon of sledding on a beautifully, sunny March day!

We enjoyed this March morning at Kidsfest in Des Moines.  We got the kids home for their naps that afternoon.  When they woke up, Tyler wanted to go sledding and Brady wanted to stay home and relax on the couch.  So, I took Tyler sledding at the Golf Course and we had a great time sledding down some hills!

It may be March, we’re still enjoying the snow, but are looking forward to Spring!

KIDSFEST 2013

march3 029  We had a fun day at the Des Moines KidsFest last weekend.  The boys have a great time seeing all the characters, doing all the bounce houses and blow up slides, and playing all the fun games.  Here’s some pictures from their day at KidsFest.march3 033 Brady was more interested in Dora’s backpack this year.  :)march3 036

ALL GROWN UP

feb24 025

All in one week, (about two weeks ago) this little one decided to grow up and become a big boy!  He made three big changes in his life.

1.  One night Brady decided that he wasn’t going to need to wear diapers anymore at bedtime.  He made up his mind and hasn’t had an accident since!  Amazing feeling!

2.  He also decided that he only wanted to sleep with his Care Bear and that he didn’t need his baby blankets/friends anymore.  For the past three years, he has walked around with his Bo and Blankie, and to not see him with them, makes him look much more grown up.

3.  And the last thing that he changed his mind on during this week, was to only wear boxer briefs now instead of brief underwear.  :)

He’s so funny and has nothing “baby” about him anymore!  He is all ready for preschool this fall!

This picture is Brady getting ready to go outside to go sledding.

TO ADD ON…

A quick quote to add to a post that I did last week.

We were home this past Wednesday because of a snow day.  I had to wake Brady up from what was already a 3 hour nap.

I went into his room and opened his curtains.  He opened his eyes, smiled and stretched big, jumped out of bed, and said,

“My bed was awesome!”

I giggled and followed the cute, little, happy, well-rested, kid out of his bedroom.  Gotta love it!

OUR NIGHT TIME ROUTINE

Our night time routine, is just that….a routine that we, the boys included, do the same of every night.  In fact, if we are out at a friends house, it seems that when 7:30 p.m. hits, Tyler will come up to me and tell me that he is ready to go home.  It is his internal clock telling him that it is time to be home and to be getting ready for bed.

7:00 is time to lay low on the couch, watch a show, and to have some I-Pad time.  7:30 is time for bath.  Both boys have taken a bath together, nightly, since Brady started to sit up on his own.  It is a time that the two of them enjoy.  Bath is given by Lee every night, unless of course, he is not home and then I’m the lucky one to bath their little bodies.  After bath, each of them get themselves dressed into their PJ’s and ready for bed.   After bath, Lee gives his kisses and his “duties” are done.  The boys and I choose one of their rooms to read a story in all together.  After story, I spend a time (or two) in each of their rooms doing our night time routines.  :)

Usually I lay in Brady’s room first and tell Tyler that I will be in shortly.  EVERY night he says…”I love you, Mom.”  I say, “I love you, too, Brady.”  He says, “I love you SO MUCH, Mom.”  I say, "I love you SO MUCH, too, Brady.”  He says, “You want to know how much I love you, Mom?”  I say, “Yes!”  He then tells me to close my eyes and he stands up in bed and holds up one of his arms and then tells me that I can look.  He then says, “This is how much I love you, Mom!”  I then say, every night, “Wow!  Did you grow today?! You love me so much!!!”  EVERY NIGHT!  :)  One of my favorite parts to every day is bedtime with these kids!!!  After laying for a little bit, he will tell me to go put Tyler to bed and then to come back to his room.

In Tyler’s room, I lay and we chat.  It’s a very special time of day for me with Tyler.  We talk about the day and what our favorite part was.  We talk about what the next day or week will bring and what we are looking forward to.  Something that NEVER gets forgotten is when Tyler asks, “What are you dreaming about tonight?”  I then tell him something that I am thinking of and he usually tells me motorcycles, dogs, or just recently Peter Cottontail.  After laying for a little bit and soaking in all of my sweet Tyler time, he tells me to go put Brady to bed and to come back to give him a hug and kiss.  He may also tell me to send Lee up as he still needs to know what Lee is dreaming about.  :)

Round #2 in Brady’s room moves pretty quickly, as he has just spent about 5 minutes in a quiet room by himself and he is usually 1/2 asleep already.  I lay for about a minute and then give him one more kiss, tell him I love him and will see him in the morning, and then back to Tyler’s room I go…

Round #2 in Tyler’s room goes pretty quickly as well.  Just a quick hug and kiss, tell him I love him and will see him in the morning and then our routine comes to an end!

Each night before I go to bed, I check on them.  I pull their blankets up, give them one final kiss until morning and just soak in their sweetness.  I am very lucky to have these two sweet boys in my life and am blessed to be their Mom.
