I have been off work since last Friday for Spring Break and we have really been enjoying ourselves! Tyler and I left for Iowa City last Thursday after work. My mom got surgery on her foot on Thursday, so we went to stay with her to take care of her. My mom (and Tyler) had lots of visitors and it was great to see everyone. We even got my mom out of the house on our last day there and took Tyler to the park. Tyler and I left to come back home Monday night. To say the least, I was exhausted! It took a lot of work taking care of my mom who could only get off the couch to go the bathroom while still taking care of Tyler. But it was great spending time with her and she really needed us there, so we were more than happy to take care of her. Tuesday was a beautiful day here so we spent alot of time playing outside. Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow, Tyler has and will be spending his days at daycare. I am spending my time getting a lot of work done at home! It's been so nice!
Tyler's new found love is basketball. Yesterday he walked from driveway to driveway to look at the basketball hoops in the neighborhood. We ended up playing at our next door neighbors and then coming home to take a quick cat nap. After nap and supper I took our little basketball hoop out on the back deck and he played basketball out there. At 7:00 we came back inside because it was getting a bit chilly and he played b-ball in the living room. It was the last thing he played last night and the first thing he played this morning. This makes Lee especially happy at this March Madness time of year. He's extremely happy to be watching b-ball on TV this weekend and to be playing b-ball with Tyler--whether it be in the living room or outside.
This past Sunday we drove to St. Charles to see Luke, Jessica, and Dylan. What a cute baby boy! We are so happy for them and loved seeing them as parents. Tyler really checked Dylan out and was interested in "the baby." Tyler did okay on the 3 hour drive from Iowa City, but both ways was getting very anxious in the last hour of the drive to get out and run around. A 3 hour drive is a bit much to ask for from a 1 year old. But, we are so glad that we made the drive to see the new baby and the proud parents and can't wait to see them again this summer. We were also very thankful to Grandma McCabe for making us an amazing lunch! Thank you! We'll see all of you soon!

PARK AND NAKED BOY!

Naked Boy on his rocking chair
Big Boy on the park bench

Discovering Rocks
Would not let go of the green ball at the park

He loves to swing!

We had some great weather here last week. Of course, we are back to being cold again this week, but soon we will be back to that wonderful weather. Tyler has loved being outside and has never wanted to come back in. We have alot of boys in our neighborhood and one day last week they were all playing basketball across the street. We, of course, had to go over and play with them. They grabbed Tyler an extra basketball for him to play with to feel like he was part of the game. He loved watching the big boys play and was very content with his b-ball in his arms. Lee then came home and got into a game with the boys and was very proud of himself for winning! Good Job, Honey!

I took Tyler to the park one nice day and he had a blast. Again, he loved carrying around his green bouncy ball, but he also loved the swing and watching the others at the park. We had a great afternoon!

If Tyler had the choice, we believe that he would choose to walk around naked the entire day. He never wants to get dressed and when he gets his clothes off before bath, he is so happy to walk around in his bedroom naked. Last night, Tyler made it up on his rocking chair by himself and was so proud! It's a hard rocking chair for him to make it up by himself, so he was just loving that he got up there and that he was naked!

CONGRATULATIONS!

We are so excited for our friends, Luke and Jessica, who had a healthy baby boy on Sunday morning, March 8! Welcome to the world, Dylan Marcus McCabe! We are so excited to meet you! I talked to Jessica yesterday and Lee got the chance to talk to Luke. They both sound great and are extremely happy that they now have this little baby boy to take care of and add to their family. We will hopefully be taking a trip to see them next week sometime--can't wait!!!
We love you-Luke, Jessica, and Dylan!

BABY #2

We had another ultrasound appt. today and everything looked and sounded great! The baby is, of course, measuring 4 days ahead of schedule in size. This was no surprise to us, as I'm sure it is not to you. We are really hoping for a girl this time around, so in a couple more months we will be going for another ultrasound to find out the sex! We did not find out the sex with Tyler, and it was the best surprise we could have ever had, but I have decided that I need to know this time around. I do have another appt. with the doctor tomorrow. I will keep all of you up-to-date!

TRICKS AND SUCTION ANIMALS

Driving his car and talking on the phone already!
Here's the suction animals

He IS having fun and it's NOT hurting him
Bringing the diaper to Lee. Behind the diaper is a huge grin. He is so proud of himself as we are saying, "Yeah, Tyler! Good Job!"
Getting the diaper out of the basket!!! :)

Tyler has started to do things that we ask him to do. It's awesome!!! The best is when we ask him to go get us a diaper and he does! Then, he will also take the dirty diaper to the garbage! He is also finding and learning body parts. He does get confused with these easily, but we are still working on them. He does know where his feet and legs are. He will pat his belly when we ask him where his belly is, but usually only when his clothes are off and his belly is bare. When he is eating, he knows where his mouth is. And for some reason, we are getting the nose and the ear confused with one another. But this has been a really fun stage--getting to watch him understand what we are saying. When it's time for us to leave in the morning, I will tell him it's time to go bye-bye and he will go sit by the door to the garage and wait for me to put his shoes and coat on. Which by the way, he says 'shoes.' He does a lot of 'tricks' these days and will usually do them on demand. Unless of course he's got a lot of people watching him. This weekend our friends Katie and Sarah were here for Friday night and Saturday morning and Tyler didn't really feel like showing off his tricks to them. He does do them, though!
Lee found out today that Tyler's barn animals can also be used as suction cups. So...he took a few of them and stuck them on Tyler's face. Tyler didn't mind--he actually thought that it was quite funny!

THE FLU!

Since last Saturday night, we have ALL had the flu! Tyler kept it up with laying low last Sunday and then having diarrhea all day on Monday. Lee threw-up at work twice on Monday and did not feel well into the night Monday night. He woke up feeling fine Tuesday morning and went to work. I threw-up twice late Monday night and have been sick the entire week! Supposedly when you're pregnant, these things last a bit longer. I took Tyler out to daycare and I stayed home from work both Tuesday and Wednesday. I did end up going back to work on Thursday, but am pretty sure that I was a complete witch to my students. It was a terrible week and I'm glad that it's finally over and I'm starting to feel better. We go to the doctor tomorrow to have an ultrasound and see how the little baby's doing! We'll let you know how it's all going and how the baby's growing. Hope you are all feeling better than what we have this past week!
