CELEBRATING AN OUTSTANDING REPORT CARD!

Tyler got a pretty amazing report card this January, so we wanted to make sure we celebrated him!

We took a trip to Dairy Queen after school the day that the Report Cards went home.

Tyler got to choose where he wanted to go out to eat that weekend, so he choice Ohana Steakhouse, which is a hibachi grill where they cook the amazing food right in front you.  The boys love this restaurant and love all the tricks that the cook does as our entertainment.

Delicious dinner to celebrate!

Great Job, Tyler!

NEIGHBORLY FUN

DSC_0546

These boys are quite attached!  Thank goodness for neighbor boys to play with every afternoon after school!  They have only been next door since October and they are all already fighting AND getting along just like brothers.  Caleb and Carter have become some pretty awesome friends to the boys.  They even got to stay the night at our house one weekend night this January!

SLEDDING DAY

The boys and I had a fun sledding day on January 11th.  It was a perfect day for some outdoor winter fun!  We could of used some more snow, but it was enough for the kids to slide down the hills.

SUNDOGS

My first time seeing ‘Sundogs’!

And it was absolutely beautiful!!!

This was a morning that we had a 2 hour delay at school.  I noticed them right away in the morning and took tons of pictures!  They were in the sky until about 9:30 or so.  They were so cool!

‘Sundogs, also known as mock suns or "parhelia", are a pair of brightly colored spots, one on either side of the sun. Sundogs form as sunlight is refracted by hexagonal plate-like ice crystals with diameters larger than 30 micrometers and their flat faces horizontally oriented.’

HAPPY ‘NOON’ YEAR!

IMG_1384

The boys and I celebrated the New Year at the Children’s Museum in Iowa City.  We drove to Iowa City on the morning of December 31st and made it to the Museum just in time to get in and wait for a few minutes before seeing the balls drop and celebrate Noon on New Year’s Eve!  The ball drop wasn’t too exciting, but playing, running around, and experimenting in the Museum after the ball drop was all sorts of fun!

We stayed the night at Mom’s that night because we were getting up the next morning to drive down to Tennessee.

Jan was in town from Florida.  The boys cuddled right up to her.  :)

After the boys were in bed, we enjoyed some champagne with Patty, Wayne, Jan, and Mom.  I celebrated the New Year at ‘Noon’ and then again at 9:00.  And was sleeping soundly at Midnight!  With the long drive the next day, sleep was a must!  It would have been nice to bring in the new year with Lee as well, but he was working late and didn’t end up getting to Mom’s until the middle of the night/early morning.  But I did bring in the new year with my lovely kids and some pretty awesome ladies!

CHRISTMAS IN TENNESSEE

DSC_0496

We took our Christmas Trip down to Tennessee on Thursday, January 1st.  We had great weather to travel in on the way down which our trip very smooth.  Still 13 hours in the car, but very smooth!  Thursday night was spent eating, lounging, and then to bed.  The boys were given a birthday present from Matt and Laura, which were spark scooters and therefore had to take them outside in the dark to ride.  They are pretty cool and the boys were beyond excited about them!  After we got the boys to bed, Lee and I relaxed in the hot tub.  After a 13 hour drive, the hot tub was exactly what our muscles needed!

Friday morning we all headed to Sam and Eula’s gym.  Sam and Eula took the boys to the indoor swimming pool, which had 2 slides that the boys loved and had such a fun time!  Matt and Lee played raquetball, Pops walked around, and I spent my time on the treadmill.  It was a fun morning at the gym!

Sam, the boys, and I went out to the hot tub first thing Friday morning, even before breakfast and the gym.  Love the hot tub!  And the boys loved it too!  They were in it numerous times a day!

The Hawks played the Vols in a bowl game on Friday afternoon, which is why we are in our hawks gear.  Unfortunately it was a terrible game to watch and the Vols won.  And because the Vols won, Grandma Eula had made a deal with the boys and bought them each a ‘Smoky’ stuffed animal.  They love stuffed animals, even if it is ‘Smoky’.

We got a great picture on Friday afternoon of the whole crew that was together for these couple days.  Grandma and Pops, Sam and Eula, Lee and Myself, Mitch and Sara, Matt and Laura, and Brady and Tyler.

After 2 days in Tennessee, we had another smooth trip on the way back home.  We stopped in Iowa City to pick up our little girls, that the boys missed so much, and then got home around 7 pm on Sunday night.
