MONKEY JOE’S

Since my mom was already in town to stay home with the boys last night, we decided that we would all take the boys someplace fun today (2/23/14).

It was the boys’ first trip to Monkey Joe’s in Des Moines and they loved it and pretty much ran and jumped and bounced for 2 hours straight!  It was amazing and not once did their smiles leave their faces.

We first enjoyed a terrific lunch out at Chili’s and then on to Monkey Joe’s!

While my mom walked around with and watched the boys bounce, run, and play, Lee and I sat and relaxed and watched and smiled from a distance.  As much fun as the boys had, my mom, Lee, and I had just as much fun watching them.  There smiles and excitement were very contagious!

After Monkey Joe’s we made a quick stop at the mall for some ice cream and then headed home.

While we were at Monkey Joe’s, Brady came up to Lee and I and said, “You guys are the best!”  And when we got back home there were numerous times where Brady had mentioned how much fun the day was and was always wanting to thank Grandma and Lee & I.  He was a very thoughtful little boy and was so thankful for the fun day that we gave him.

At the end of this long winter, I am so glad that we were able to give them a day that was just for them!

GREAT FRIENDS!

fun 1

I am so lucky to have some wonderful people that I work with that have become such amazing friends with both Lee and myself.  Heidi, Megan, Wayne, Brian, Lee, and myself have made some pretty memorable evenings!  I always look forward to our next event outside of school as they are just so much fun.  It’s really amazing how well everyone ‘clicks’ and ‘lets loose’.  We are very lucky to have these friends in our lives!

MORE SNOW FUN!

We had a ‘snow day’ this past Monday, Feb. 17th.  It turned out to be a great day off, with the snow storm hitting in the morning and then sunshine and temperatures in the 40’s by the afternoon.

The boys and I walked over to the YMCA fields to sled in the late morning.  They had a great time and with the 2014 Winter Olympics being on, they both wanted to try some new ‘stunts’.

Tyler continually used his sled as a snowboard and would go down the hill each time standing up.  Brady would usually sit down in his sled to go down the hill, but he did try to stand up a few times.  They both did a great job and had a blast doing it!

Every now and then they each had to stop to rest and eat some fresh snow.

We went back to school on Tuesday but the temperatures were amazing in the afternoon when we got home from school.  The boys went out to play in the backyard and didn’t come in until I called them in for dinner!  I watched them from inside as I was making dinner, but I did step out to take some pictures.

DELANEY’S BAPTISM

DSC_0188

Lee and I are very lucky to be the Godparents for Delaney!

We had such a great day yesterday for her baptism.  We had a great lunch at Josh and Liz’s after church and enjoyed spending our day all together.

With few words and more pictures, here’s some great pictures that were taken at Church yesterday.

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY

Happy Valentine’s Day!

We all had a great Valentine’s Day this year!  It was great that it was on a Friday and that my mom could come stay with both boys at home since neither of them had school.  I, on the other hand, had to sit in meetings all day for Professional Development.

Brady had his Preschool Valentine Party on Wednesday, Feb. 12th.  He had a great party and was excited about all the little valentine’s and candy that he brought home.  Here he is playing musical chairs at school with his friends.  He’s sitting on Jackson’s lap and they are next to Quinn.

Tyler had his Kindergarten Valentine Party on Thursday, Feb. 13.   He as well had a great time and was excited about all his valentine’s and candy.  I was able to stop into Tyler’s classroom during his party to see him for a bit and take a picture.

Tyler’s Valentine’s for his class were Valentine Crossword Puzzles and Pencils.  Brady’s Valentine’s for his class were a Heart Shaped ‘Silly’ Straw.

Tyler wrote his first Valentine to a special girl this year.  Addie White was special enough, in Tyler’s eyes, to get a Valentine from him.  Addie is always so good to both Tyler and Brady and they both love her to pieces.  She has a special place in the hearts of our two boys.  Tyler sat down on Wednesday night and wrote her a Valentine.  “You’re my Valentine.  To Addie.  Love Tyler.”  He gave it to her Thursday morning when we dropped Brady off at their house.  He was so excited to give it to her and she said in her sweet little voice, “Thank you, Tyler!”

I gave the boys their Valentine’s bags on Friday morning before I left for work.  They were excited and Mom said that everything in the bag kept them busy throughout the day.  They especially love their new Twistable Colored Pencils and Note Pad!

And they got to spend the day with one of their most favorite Valentine’s, their Grandma!

Here’s some things around the house that made our house filled with Valentine Love!
