JUST A FEW QUOTES

jan 6 004

Our kids say the funniest things all day long, but unfortunately I never end up remember half of them.  Here’s a few recent ones that really stick out that I want to remember.

Brady

He was so excited to have received his new toy for Valentine’s Day.  The next day he was telling me that he wanted to take this new toy to Lindy’s (daycare), because…“it’s berry, berry, berry, berry, berry, berry, (etc.) Special!”  It was so cute how he said it!

One evening as I was cooking dinner, I asked Brady to check on Lucy for me to make sure that she was okay and not having an accident somewhere!  He ran back into the kitchen and said, “she’s trying to eat Cali’s butt!”  Hilarious!

Tyler

I brought home my Care Bears from my mom’s house last weekend while I was in Iowa City.  The boys were down for a nap when I got home.  Tyler woke up first and loved the Care Bears!  When Brady woke up, Tyler said to Brady, “Brady, look what Mom brought home!  They were Mom’s Care Bears.  They’re WAY OLD!”  Wow!  Thanks, Tyler!  :)

And this is not a quote, but it’s something about Tyler that I want to share.  For many nights, we danced to Gangham Style by watching the Just Dance 4 video of it on the computer or IPad.  The other night, the Gangham Style song came on the TV because we had Pandora playing.  We were amazed, but not really surprised, that Tyler has all of the dance moves from the Just Dance 4 video memorized and danced the whole thing by himself!  Amazing!

I really need to be writing down more of what they say, as they crack me up (and make me pull my hair out) constantly!  Love these two little boys of ours!  They really are pretty darn amazing!

AND TO ADD A COUPLE THINGS….

I had just published this post and Tyler said two very funny things in a row.

1.  My mom was here today with the kids and dogs while Lee and I went back to CF/Dike for my cousin’s service.  Tyler was just talking to me about what they ate for lunch.  He said that he ate more fettucine and Grandma added more parmesan cheese to it.  Since there was already enough parmesan in it when I made it, I said, “really she added more?”  And Tyler smiled and said, “that grandma” in a voice as if I were saying it and he knew exactly what I was thinking.  :)  It made me giggle.

2.  He is also sitting here next to me, coloring in his magazine.  Instead of saying the word ‘notice,’ he usually says the word ‘recognize’ instead.  I correct him every time, but he just hasn’t gotten it yet.  So, as he is coloring his magazine, with markers, he said, “recognize that I got some marker on my hand?”

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!

We all had a special and lovely Valentine’s Day this year!feb17 003 Valentine’s morning was chaotic, but fun.  Lee had some beautiful red roses at home for me Valentine’s morning.  We started the day off with making the boys their special breakfast of bacon shaped as a heart and some heart shaped red velvet pancakes with chocolate chips.

We found enough time for the boys to open their Valentine gifts before we left for daycare/work that morning.  Each of them received their own special card, Chase, one of the Rescue Bots, and some candy.  They were beyond thrilled with Chase and had to take him, along with Heatwave to Daycare that day.feb17 005 Brady with his special Snoopy card and stickers.feb17 008 Brady with his Chase.feb17 010 Tyler with Chase.feb17 013 They had to go grab their Heatwaves right away so that they could play with both of them together.feb17 015 One Happy Valentine!feb17 016 Another little Happy Valentine.feb17 018 And a new tradition, just started last year, is that I make them a homemade Heart Shaped Pizza.

Lee and I have a tradition as well.  For the past 10 Valentine’s, we have had a Steak dinner with twiced baked potatoes, and sweet and sour green beans.  Very special, delicious dinner that we enjoy each year with each other.  Love our family traditions!feb17 021One of the suckers that I got them had these lips on the outside.  Cute!feb17 023 feb17 024 Not only did Lee have beautiful red roses for me Valentine’s morning, but he had some pink roses delivered to school that day.  What a wonderfully, awesome husband I have!

And to share a couple pictures of my day at school with “my kids” away from home.feb17 040 They are amazing Kindergartners!feb17 041 I taught them a “love” song with actions that we were sharing for the cameras!  :)

CHUCK E. CHEESE DAY

feb10 006 My mom came to visit us this weekend to see the boys and the new puppy.  Instead of just staying inside on this rainy, dreary day, she wanted to take us to Chuck E. Cheese’s and the boys were more than excited to spend a day playing games, eating pizza, and winning prizes!  Thank you, Mom (Grandma), for the very fun and exhausting day at Chuck E. Cheese’s!  We all had a great time!feb10 003 feb10 005 The happiness on their faces was constant and contagious to those of us around them.feb10 008 Brady, up on his tiptoes, to play a game.feb10 009 He concentrates so hard!feb10 011 feb10 017 Brady and I on the “roller coaster” ride.feb10 021 feb10 023 Grandma and Tyler giving the “roller coaster” ride a turn.feb10 029 feb10 030 I was steering the wheel and pushing down on the gas.  What was Brady doing?  Looking cute and watching our car go fast!feb10 031 Wow!  He’s growing up!  I love this picture of him!feb10 032 feb10 034 You can tell that this was the last thing before we left.  They look a little tired and ready to call it a day.  (They both had to wear their new Valentine shirts today from Grandma Mary.)

It was such a fun day with Grandma!  I can’t thank her enough for all she does for us!

LITTLE LUCY

feb1 013 We have a new addition to our family—Meet Lucy!

We decided to get another puppy so that Cali can have a playmate.  My aunt and uncle had just bought another puppy and they got there’s from a breeder in Knoxville, IA, which is not too far away from us.  The boys and I took a trip to this breeder over my Christmas Break.  At that time, they did not have any female poodles, but we still enjoyed our trip and seeing all the other puppies.  We kept in contact with the breeder and were waiting for a female poodle to be ready for our family.  Tyler and Lee made the trip down to Knoxville two weeks ago to put a deposit down on the perfect little puppy.  When they went there, she had just spent her first day away from her mom and was a little scared.  The breeder needed to keep her for at least a week or until she was at least 2 lbs.  I had Lee call on her the Friday after he and Tyler drove down there (I was really wanting her to get to us for the weekend.)  He told me that they said she would be ready by Sunday.  So, that Friday, I came home with the boys, got a snack ready, and we were getting ready to go over to a friends house for a party, until….Lee walked in with the puppy!  So, rather than us going to a party, we stayed home with our new little puppy!  She came home, at 8 weeks old, weighing a solid 2 lbs. 3 oz. and is full of so much hair!  It took us time to name this cute little thing, but Lee has wanted to name a dog Lucy forever, so he got his wish (even though it’s not a mastiff) and we went with the name Lucy!

Cali played a little rough with her on the first night, but has now learned how to play with such a small puppy and does a great job of playing to her size and strength.  Tyler has taken on the “mother roll” and wants to carry her everywhere!  Brady is too busy with whatever he is doing and doesn’t notice her much unless she is right on top of him.  Lee loves to cuddle her.  And me, well I do not keep my eyes off of her as my goal is to not have her have an accident when she is on my watch!

Lucy is an amazing little puppy and fits right into this active family of ours!
