SPRING BREAK 2015

We had a pretty amazing Spring Break that began on Friday, March 13th and went until Sunday, March 22nd!

There was a lot of time for relaxation and play!  I absolutely love our Spring Break time!  The extra time that I get to be with my kids and not have to be rushed for a whole week makes everything pretty amazing!

Friday, March 13th

The boys and I rode our bikes up to the school park in the morning.  They had a great time running around playing in the beautiful weather.

The boys relaxed on the back deck with me when they woke up from their naps on Friday.  They both still look a little sleepy in these two pictures.  While they were napping, I was on the back deck soaking in the sunshine and relaxing!

We invited the Woollums’ over for pizza on Friday night.  The kids had their first dinner outside of the season!

Saturday, March 14

I ran the Leprechaun Race on Saturday morning, while Lee took the kids on a bike ride.

The afternoon on Saturday was spent playing outside.  These boys have NEVER played so much in our sandbox as they have this Spring already!  I love it!

Monday, March 16th

Monday’s weather was a little out of the ordinary, but we loved it!  The temperature was in the 80’s and we were outside the entire day enjoying it!  The boys were able to run around in their swim trunks, squirt their water guns, and run around the neighborhood with the neighbor kids!  It was a wonderful day!

Tuesday, March 17th

The boys and I drove to Iowa City on Tuesday.  We met my mom in Williamsburg to do some shopping.  When we left Williamsburg, my mom took the kids to her house to relax and play some video games, while I continued on into Iowa City to do some more shopping!  After a day of shopping and traveling, we went out for Taco Tuesday and then hung out and relaxed at Grandma’s house.

Wednesday, March 18th

My mom and I took the kids to Cedar Rapids on Wednesday.  We took them to Planet X and they had a great time!  We did arcade games, bumper cars, and had their (and mine!) first experience with Laser Tag.  After Planet X we had pizza at Mellow Mushroom and then went back to Grandma’s house.

Brady won the jackpot, 1,000 tickets, on an arcade game.  He was beyond thrilled!

Laser Tag was an awesome experience for all of us!

Thursday, March 19th

Thursday morning my mom and I took the kids out to the mall to go ice skating.  This was their first experience with ice skating, so I wasn’t sure how it would go, but they did amazing!  They made me so proud!  I had to help Brady at the beginning, but he got the hang of it pretty quickly.  Tyler used the wall for a bit at the beginning, but then he took off!

We always love going to Iowa City to spend a few days with Grandma during our Spring Break!  We had such a great time and the kids enjoyed a couple of ‘firsts’ along the way!

(Friday, March 20-Sunday, March 22 were spent with the McCabe’s.  Coming in the next post.)

LEPRECHAUN CHASE 10K

It had been a while since I’d done a race, so I figured what better of a race than a green Leprechaun Chase!?!

This was my first 10K, which is 6 miles.  It was on a Saturday morning, March 14th and it was a lot of fun!  Running it with Lindsey and Tory helped with the fun factor!  It was a perfect, beautiful morning to run and we really did enjoy it.

After the race, we went to El Bait Shop for the after-race party.  We undid what we had just ran and had a couple beers and some nachos!  :)

SPRING HAS ARRIVED!

All of these pictures are from a beautiful afternoon on Wednesday, March 11th.  The boys and I got home from school/work and went for a bike ride and run.  I love being able to run behind them while they ride their bikes!  Exercise all around!  When we got home we spent time outside chalking up the driveway until it was time to go in for dinner.  We are so excited to be outside getting exercise again!

BRADY’S 1/2 BIRTHDAY

DSC_0670

Brady got to celebrate his 1/2 birthday at school on Monday, March 9th.  He was beyond excited!  He really didn’t think he turned 5 1/2 until he got to celebrate it at school, even though he actually would have turned 5 1/2 back on February 25th.  He loves everything about the attention and specialness of a birthday celebration at school brings!  He picked out this squishy frog toy for his gift from his teachers.  He’s a pretty awesome 5 1/2 year old!

NASHVILLE WEDDING WEEKEND!

Joey and Jessica got married on Saturday, March 7 in Nashville and my mom and I made the long haul of a drive down for the fun event.  We had a great weekend, along with the Hammes’, Rene and Emily, my Aunts and Uncles, and my cousins!

My mom and I left with the Hammes’ on Thursday evening and drove about halfway.  We got into a hotel about midnight; the same hotel that the Kriz’s were already staying at.  We got up on Friday morning for breakfast and then to make the rest of the drive down.  Kentucky had a bad winter storm that Thursday, which most of our family got stuck in, so we took a bit of a different way on Friday and made it just fine.  We got to Nashville Friday afternoon, layed low for just a bit and then headed downtown to Broadway St.

Down on Broadway St. with Emily, Rene, Rita, Mom, me, Tanya, and Emily.  We went to a bar for a drink, then dinner at Margaritaville, and then onto a couple more bars and ended up the night with the wedding party at Legends.

Saturday I had gotten up to run 5 miles and then my mom and I pretty much did running around for Judy to help her get last minute things ready for the wedding day.

After the beautiful church ceremony and before the reception, Tanya, Emily, and I took a walk back down to Broadway St. to listen to some music in Honkey Tonk.  So much fun!

TWO FRONT TEETH

toothless

Tyler lost his 2nd top tooth on Thursday, March 5th while he was at school!  He came into my classroom at the end of the school day and was so excited to show me!  I snapped a picture of his toothless smile right away.  He looks so different and so cute!  He at first thought it was a little hard to talk and I think he still thinks it’s a bit tough to eat!  The Tooth Fairy left him $5 for this 2nd top tooth!
