1ST DAY OF 2ND GRADE AND KINDERGARTEN!

August 24, 2015

The first day of school for the boys and myself!

The Boys

I am so happy that both boys are now at school with me.  I can see them throughout the day and I love seeing and watching them in the school setting!  I am excited to see how much they grow throughout this school year!

Brady Joseph

Brady’s first day of Kindergarten!

Brady was so excited for his first day and has been very ready to be at school with Tyler and I.  He had a great day, told me all about it, and is ready to go back for more!  He made a magnet, a ‘hat’, had fun at recess, and ate MOST of his lunch!  And the second he walked in the door from school, he got into his PJ’s and relaxed!

We are so proud of Brady!!!

Tyler Thomas

Tyler is now in 2nd grade, two doors down from my classroom, and has Mrs. Melissa Bennett for a teacher.  Tyler has been waiting for school to start and thank goodness he had an awesome day and absolutely LOVES Mrs. Bennett!  He was so happy the entire day today, into tonight.  He really thrives at school!  He’s excited to be back in school so he can read more!  He did a good All About Me activity and said that Mrs. Bennett ‘modeled’ a lot of what they should look like and sound like.  :)

JR. RANGER DAY!

IMG_2677

Mandy held the 4th annual Kid Party Day last Friday, August 14th at the Klein household.  After an Olympics Day, Science Day, and Army Day, this year was Jr. Ranger Day!

The kids absolutely love these parties that Mandy spends so much time to prepare for them.  We are so thankful that she continues to house all these crazy kids for a morning to finish up the summer months!

IMG_2648

I was able to stay and help throughout the whole party this year.  Melissa Sommars and I were in charge of the relay race station.  We had the kids put on raccoon hats, jump in sleeping bags, and shoot bow and arrows.  They had a great time!

Besides relay races, the kids played a Eagle and Baby Bird tag game, made sailboats, and went on a scavenger hunt.

MARIPOSA PARK

IMG_2643

The boys and I took a quick trip out to Mariposa Park to see the Bison last Tuesday, August 11th.

We played at the park for a bit, played with the water pump, and even saw the bison!

It got us out of the house for a bit, so it was a successful little trip!

HE MET OUR GOAL!

On Monday, August 10th, the boys and I went over to the Grinnell pool for another summer pool day.  Brady had just passed the Maytag swim test the Friday before and had gone off the diving boards, so I was interested in seeing what Brady was going to decide to do since he hadn’t passed the Grinnell swim test yet.  Even on our way into the pool he told me that he would just wait until next summer to pass the test.  The swim test in Grinnell was swimming a full 25 meters.  He had tried and tried and always got so tired in the middle and would swim to the side.

It only took about 10 minutes at the pool with Brady watching other kids going off the diving boards, that he decided he wanted to try the swim test again!  Sam, his swim instructor, had a big goal for Brady this summer.  He really wanted Brady to pass the swim test.  Since Brady had already gone off the boards, he knew how much fun they were, therefore, he finally really wanted to pass the test and swim the full 25 meters!

And he did just that!  He did get tired and started swimming toward the side, but with the lifeguard cheering him on and Tyler and I at the end cheering him on, he continued and made it all the way to the end!

We were so excited for him!  And he was so exhausted!  After he got out of the pool, I bent down for a hug and ended up carrying him back to our loungers.  I set him down and he started crying.  Through the tears, he told me he was crying because he was so happy, but I truly think he was crying because of pure exhaustion.  Either way, it was pretty cute!

And then he and Tyler spent the rest of the afternoon going off of the diving boards!  And I had to send a text message to Sam to let him know that Brady met his goal!  The next day when we went back to the pool, Sam was there and Brady got to tell him about his swim test himself!

Ice cream was needed to celebrate Brady passing his BIG swim test!  So, after dinner we went to Dairy Queen for some ice cream treats outside.

DYSART DAY

We went to spend the day in Dysart yesterday, Sunday, August 8th.

We had a great lunch at my Grandma’s house with all the Kriz’s and a few of the Raub’s.  Kendall and Brenda had their 3 new little puppies over, so that provided a lot of the entertainment.  They were adorable!  The kids played over at the park and had a fun time being with Ava.

After lunch, we took the kids up to the Raub’s neighbors to swim for awhile.  They had so much fun!

After swimming we went to see the puppies again and then ate more food before making the drive back home.

It was a fun day with family!

The puppies slept under my legs on the stairs for a long time.
