It’s been about a month that Tyler has had his first loose tooth. After each week went by, I couldn’t believe we made it through the week without the tooth coming out! He wiggled, and played, and wiggled, and played with that tooth. I would try to wiggle and pull at it; Lee would try, and nothing!
The tooth was actually turning gray in his mouth the last couple of days. It’s as if it was already dead, but still hanging out in his mouth!
Here’s a few pictures that I took of Tyler and his full set of baby teeth a few weeks ago. Thinking that it would only be days until it would fall out, so I thought I’d better get a few pics of him and his 20 little teeth!
And this is what he looked like for those few weeks. Always a finger in his mouth wiggling it!
And this past Saturday was the day that Tyler finally lost his first tooth!
I was on my way home from Iowa City and Lee called. He quickly gave the phone to Tyler and I heard, “My tooth fell out!” I was so excited and asked him all about it. He said, “Yep, it broke off alright!” Too funny! He cracks me up! He told me that it was bleeding a lot, but didn’t hurt. I asked him if he rinsed out his mouth with water to help with the blood, but he had called RIGHT after Lee pulled it, so he hadn’t gotten to do that yet. He told me how it fell out…..Lee was using a Flosser to try to get it out. Then Lee took a paper towel and pulled hard and out it came!
I was so excited to get home; it was a good thing I didn’t have much of a drive left!
Now he’s officially a Big Kid! Loosing his baby teeth---Wow! I couldn’t have been more proud and excited for him that day, though!
Not only was Tyler so happy and excited about loosing his tooth, he was looking forward to the Tooth Fairy visiting as well! Tyler wanted to keep his tooth so that he could take it to school to show his class---and I wanted to keep his 1st tooth for his baby book! So, I had him sit down and write a letter to the Tooth Fairy to ask if he could keep his tooth.
Tyler and his itty-bitty baby tooth.
Can you please leave my tooth
Love Tyler
I found this cute little Tooth Fairy Pillow here in town. It actually hangs on the door handle of the bedroom (instead of putting it under the pillow) which makes it MUCH easier for the Tooth Fairy to get to. It’s got a little pocket to put the tooth in and any notes if necessary.
Tyler (and Brady both) woke up early Sunday morning. They both woke up to go to the bathroom and then both went back to their beds, because Lee and I were still sleeping. I heard them both, so ended up getting up. I went to Tyler’s room first. He popped up and said, “The Tooth Fairy came Mom! And she left money! I saw it when I went to the bathroom.” I looked on the other side of his door. And he of course didn’t touch the money. it was still in the tooth pillow. But as soon as I saw it, he jumped out of bed to see how much she left him. He was very excited when he counted out 5 one dollar bills! AND she left the tooth for him!
Tyler’s been carrying the tooth around with him and is still on Cloud 9. He took it to school today and asked the nurse for a little ‘treasure chest’ to keep it in. We now have it back home safely and it will soon go to the baby book.
This has been a pretty fun experience!
